Spotlight
on Putu Oka Sukanta
Indonesian
poet, novelist and short story writer Putu Oka Sukanta will discuss
his life, shaped dramatically by the 1965 anti-leftist purge of
Indonesia's cultural and political institutions. The presentation
will include a short screening of his new film, which includes
interviews with former political prisoners, as well as presentations
by his translator, Dr Keith Foulcher and Dr Kate McGregor who
will discuss the fate of political prisoners after 1965.
