Chinese Museum Melbourne reopensMelbourne’s Chinese Museum has re-opened after a $1.2 million upgrade that has taken six months.

Located in the heart of Melbourne’s Chinatown, the Chinese Museum comprises five floors of priceless artworks, artefacts, fashion, books, photographs and jade.  Contemporary exhibits include a new Chinatown Visitor Centre, a Dragon Gallery housing the Museum’s four dragons, the "Finding Gold" interactive display, research library, Bridge of Memories exhibition and a top floor filled with treasures.

A national museum, the Chinese Museum tells Australia’s 200-year Chinese history through artefacts as well as the stories of recent arrivals from all parts of the Asia Pacific region since the 1950s.

Take a kids' tour through the Museum or a Chinatown heritage walk.

The Chinese Museum, at 22 Cohen Place, off Little Bourke Street, is open 7 days a week, from 10 am to 5 pm. Admission: Adults $7.50, Children and Concession Card holders $5.50. Family passes $20.50.  Chinese tea and biscuits $4.50.
