About us:

The Vicnet Division of the State Library of Victoria has convened this group since 2005. The group includes a number of disability service organizations such as Scope, Vision Australia. MS Australia, Disabled Motorists, Rural Access as well as representatives from Office of Disability and the Department of Human Services.

Terms of reference:

Purpose:

To identify the many factors which influence the capacity of people with a disability to engage with the Internet and related technologies, and develop strategies to improve opportunities for people with a disability in this area.

Scope:

People with a disability, service providers, government decision makers (IT Designers and providers)

Role:

The ICT Disability Working Group will:

  • Bring existing networks together within and across the disability sector and providers of Internet related services.
    (Information sharing & networking)
  • Provide a reference point for information about specific assistive technologies and disability focused projects
    (resource and knowledge base)
  • Undertake projects and activities that further the overall purpose of the working group
    (Specific projects: identify gaps - opportunities -   partnerships)
  • Promote awareness of value and possibilities of assistive technology (communication and advocacy)
  • Participate and contribute to assistive technology research
