Bailup's focus is the 'Kelly Story'. It is our aim to clear up the many misconceptions, not necessarily establish a particular point of view.
We are working hard, and are dedicated to uncovering the 'facts' of the Kelly story. Some facts have been well hidden in this short but complicated part of Australia's history, and are not always easy to find in amongst the folktale! This all takes time but we promise to keep at it.

The primary purpose of the Society is "To encourage the study of history, especially the history of Bendigo" and to promote the compilation and presentation of authentic records relating to Bendigo.Places covered: The main area of study is the area covered by the present day City of Greater Bendigo which was created from from the former municipalities of the City of Bendigo, Borough of Eaglehawk, Shires of Strathfieldsaye and Huntly, and parts of the Rural City of Marong and Shires of McIvor and Metcalf.
At present the Society does not have a home and the majority of the collection is in storage and not accessible. A small collection of reference books and photographs is available for inspection by arrangement. Meetings are held monthly during the year.

Our Society is a volunteer based, non-profit organisation dedicated to the preservation, study and promotion of Camperdown & district history.
Activities:
Our Society meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7.30 p.m. in the McCabe Room at Camperdown.
Most meetings feature a guest speaker.
Regular field trips are held, sometimes to places rarely open to the general public.
Our Society also runs a 'Heritage Centre', featuring a museum and excellent research facilities.
Visitors are most welcome.
