Volunteer Heritage Keepers Receive Management Training A short course is being offered at the Royal Historical Society of Victoria on 19th, 20th and 21st of November 2009 and is free of charge for volunteers in the Melbourne Metropolitan area. You can download an application form from the RHSV web site at: www.historyvictoria.org.au. Alternatively, you can request a form or make an enquiry about the program by contacting the RHSV on 03 9326-9288. The 2.5 day course in occupational health and safety (OHS), risk, volunteer and project management will be open to heritage volunteers through the Heritage Keepers – Volunteer Training Program. The course is suitable for volunteers with: 1. Historical societies 2. Local museums and community collecting organisations 3. Culturally diverse heritage groups 4. RSL and veterans groups 5. Community groups with heritage records (e.g. sporting, scouts, local history, amateur archaeology, architecture and natural history groups); and 6. Cemetery trusts, family history and genealogy groups. The course has been designed by the Royal Historical Society of Victoria (RHSV) in partnership with Heritage Victoria, with funding though Victoria’s Heritage: Strengthening our communities. It offers industry relevant training, with the OHS and risk management components aligned to Certificate IV in Business (Frontline Management / BSB41004).
