Headache Australia is an initiative of the Brain Foundation set up specifically to help those suffering from chronic headaches and migraines. Both conditions are distinct neurological disorders that the World Health Organisation recognises as a major public health issue. Headache Australia seeks to raise awareness and educate people about the incidence and impact of chronic headaches and migraines in the community.
The personal and productivity costs of chronic headache and migraine to the community are high and often underrated. Migraine is the most prominent chronic pain suffered by Australians and chronic pain itself is in the top three medical conditions in terms of socio-economic cost.
