Posting messages to a list

A member of a list can post messages to the list. Your list moderator may give you some instructions about how to post messages. Here is some advice about how to make the best use of mailing lists.

  • consider each posting as a personal note to the other members, it should be friendly, polite and to the point.
  • write your message in the body of your e-mail, never post an attachment (document) to a mailing list.
  • text within messages is copyright of their author
  • a 'flame' is an inflammatory comment, don't post them, and be careful about responding to them
  • report complaints about another member to the moderator not to the list or to that person
  • don't send the same message to more than one mailing list
  • think twice, are your advertisements, jokes or virus warnings in the interests of other members or are they just junk mail?
