Outlook 2007 Basic Account Settings

  • Click the Start button
  • Click Programs
  • Click Microsoft Office Outlook 2007
  • Click the Tools menu
  • Click Account Settings



  • Click Next



  • Click Yes
  • Click Next



Tick “Manually configure server settings or additional server types”
Click Next



  • Click Internet E-mail
  • Click Next



  • Within the Your Name box, type the name that people will see when you send an email to them. This setting is not technical and can essentially be anything.
  • Within the E-mail Address box, type your email address, e.g. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
  • Within the Account Type drop-down list, select POP3
  • Within the Incoming mail server box, type mail.vicnet.net.au
  • Within the Outgoing mail server box, type mail.vicnet.net.au
  • Type your User Name (generally the first part of your email address, the bit before the @ symbol) e.g. jcitizen
  • Within the Password box, type your password (generally a random combination of numbers and letters totalling 8 characters)
  • Click More Settings ... button
  • Click on the Advanced tab



  • Make sure the Leave copy a of messages on the server option is not ticked as this can cause mailbox full messages to be delivered to your mailbox.
  • Click Ok
  • Click Next
  • Click Finish
