The following settings are a handy reference summary of the various details you may need to configure your computer for dial in access to Vicnet.
If you have the Vicnet Internet Access Kit, you can use this to configure a connection to Vicnet automatically, without having to use the settings below. However it is always a good idea to keep these settings handy just in case.
NOTE: Vicnet uses dynamic IP address allocation so you will not have your own IP number permanently but will only be given one for the time you are logged on.
Dial in phone numbers: 96574500 (Melbourne), 019 8308006 (Mega Pop, Mallacoota and Apollo Bay)
Domain Name: vicnet.net.au
SMTP server: mail.vicnet.net.au
POP server: mail.vicnet.net.au
IP address: set to 'server assigned IP address' if available or 0.0.0.0
Primary DNS (Domain Name Server): 203.10.72.1
Secondary DNS (Domain Name Server): 203.10.72.25
Time Server (optional): 203.10.72.1
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: Don't put a number in, but if you must, use 203.10.72.17
When you get a Vicnet membership (by faxing, posting, or emailing us the membership agreement) we will send you all your connection details and login account.
Your username (or login name) will be the part before the @ in your email address. For example if your chosen username is jcitizen, you'll be jcitizen@vicnet.net.au.
