Setting up Remote Access
The screen pictures shown here are an example of what remote access looks like. The appearance of remote access will vary depending on the version of operating system and open transport installed on your Macintosh. If you need help setting up your connection please call the Vicnet help desk.
- Ensure you have installed your modem
- Click the Apple Menu at the top left of your screen
- Click Control Panels
- Click Remote Access
- If you see a small window like this:

- You will need to click on the arrow next to the word Setup

- Within the Name box, type your username
[an error occurred while processing this directive]
- Within the Password box, type your password
- Ensure Save password is ticked
- In the Number box, type the phone number of the Vicnet access location closest to you

- Click on the Options button
- On the Protocol tab, make sure you only have Allow error correction and compression in modem and Use TCP header compression ticked

- Click on the Connection tab
- Make sure you only have Flash icon in menu bar while connected ticked

- Click on the Redialing tab
- Make sure Redial is set to Off

- Click OK
- Click Connect
If you cannot connect you may need to use a terminal window in your remote access settings or use a third party dialing software called FreePPP. If you are not confident you can do that, please contact Vicnet Help and we can help you fine tune your connection setting.
