Windows 2000: Creating a connection
Creating a Dial-Up Networking Vicnet connection setting
(Network/Internet Connection Wizard)
- Click the Start button
- Click Settings
- Click Control Panel
- Double click the Network and Dial-Up Connections shortcut
- Double click the Make New Connection shortcut

- Select Dial-up to the Internet
- Click Next

- Select I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)
- Click Next

- Select I connect through a phone line and a modem
- Click Next

- In the Telephone number box, type the phone number of the Vicnet access location closest to you
- Apollo Bay: 52378000
- Mallacoota: 51619100
- Melbourne: 96574500
- Megapop: 0198308006
- Ensure Use area code and dialing rules is not ticked
- Click Next

- Type your username and password
Usernames and Passwords
Your username and password are case sensitive - your username will always be in lowercase, whereas your password should be typed as shown on the documentation you've received.
Your username is the first part of your email address, the part before the @ symbol e.g. jcitizen@vicnet.net.au
- Click Next

- In the Connection name box, type Vicnet
- Click Next

- Select No
- Click Next

- Ensure To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and then click Finish is not ticked
- Click Finish
You have now created a basic Dial-Up Networking connection setting for dialling into Vicnet. You now need to edit the connection setting to fine tune it for Vicnet.
