Windows Help - Internet Explorer 6

Basic Configuration

Basic configuration of Internet Explorer 6 is simple and fast, here's how:

  1. Click the Start button
  2. Click Programs
  3. Click Internet Explorer
  4. Click the Tools menu
  5. Click Internet Options

    6. IE6 - Tools - Internet Options - General tab

    All settings here are optional, however VICNET recommends that

  6. Within the Home page: box, type http://www.vicnet.net.au/
  7. Click the Connections tab

    8. IE6 - Tolls - Internet Options - Connections

  8. Select Never dial a connection within the Dial-up and Virtual Private Network settings section
  9. Click Settings...

    10. IE6 - Tools - Internet Options - Local Area Network (LAN Settings

  10. Ensure Use a proxy server for this connection is ticked
  11. Within the Address: box, type proxy.vicnet.net.au
  12. Within the Port: box, type 8080
  13. Ensure Bypass proxy server for local addresses is ticked
  14. Click OK
  15. Click OK

Those are all the settings you need. Your installation of Internet Explorer 6 is now configured for Web surfing!
