aboutWindows Millenium Edition (ME) was the last consumer oriented Windows operating system based on the DOS 16bit / Windows 32 bit code base. Released on September 14 2000, ME was the result of Microsoft's inability to fully integrate the consumer functionailty of the DOS/9x code base into Windows 2000. Although Windows ME shared the Windows 2000 look and feel with some new software tools such as Windows Movie Maker, it was essentially a heavily modified Windows 98 including a dubious attempt to hide pure DOS functionailty. related sites |
