Windows Vista: Creating a connection

Creating a Dial-Up Networking Vicnet connection

  1. Click the Start button
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Double click the Network and Sharing center from the control panel
  4. From the left hand sidebar column, click the Set up a connection or network link
  5. Select Set up a dialup connection and click Next
  6. Within the Dial-up phone number box, type 96574500 (for Melbourne) or 0198308006 (For Mallacoota, Apollo Bay, Megapop)
  7. Within the User name box, type your username
  8. Within the Password box, type your password
  9. Usernames and Passwords

Your username and password are case sensitive - your username will always be in lowercase, whereas your password should be typed as shown on the documentation you've received.

Your username is the first part of your email address, the part before the @ symbol e.g. jcitizen@vicnet.net.au

  10. Ensure the Show characters and Remember this password boxes are ticked
  11. Within the Connection name box, type your Vicnet
  12. Click Connect

You have now created a basic Dial-Up Networking connection setting for dialling into Vicnet. You now need to edit the connection setting to fine tune it for Vicnet.
