Windows XP

about

Windows XP is the culmination of Microsoft's long held plan to retire the DOS/Windows 9x code base that dates back to 1981. Essentially an evolution of Windows 2000, XP fully integrates the consumer friendliness of the DOS/Windows 9x code base with the reliability of the Windows NT 32bit architecture.

With it's consumer friendly features, Windows XP has heralded the death of Windows ME and it's predecessors. However Microsoft has maintained a differentiated marketing strategy that has produced Home and Professional versions of XP with minor differences between the two.

Windows XP includes support for wireless networking, a heavily revamped user interface, remote assistance tools (Professional version) and integrated CDR software.
