asca_thumbnail_2010Do you know of a project that has made your community safer and more resilient?

If so, the 2010 Australian Safer Communities Awards may be the perfect way to promote and recognise best practice and innovation by organisations and individuals who help build safer, stronger and more resilient communities across Australia.

The awards cover all aspects of emergency management – risk assessment, research, education and training, information and knowledge management, prevention, preparedness, response and recovery – and entry is open to any organisation or individual.

In recognition of the vitality and contribution of young people to the emergency management sector, and the broader community, this year’s awards program introduces a new entry category – ‘Youth’ for projects developed and/or managed by young people.

The awards are hosted in Victoria by the Office of the Emergency Services Commissioner and are sponsored nationally by the Attorney-General’s Department in conjunction with states and territories.

Entries for the 2010 Australian Safer Communities Awards close Friday, 2 July 2010.

For information on the awards and eligibility criteria visit http://www.oesc.vic.gov.au or contact the Australian Safer Communities Awards - Victorian Coordinator on (03) 8684 7938.
