Permanent Connections
Vicnet offers a wide choice of reliable and affordable permanent connections to suit all budgets and requirements across Victoria.
Why should I use a 'permanent' Internet account instead of a dialup Internet account?
- Internet access is cheaper in bulk. If you use your account a lot, our permanent accounts have at least 1000Mb included, and the download excess charge is a lot lower.
- Other dialup accounts are accessed via a public pool of modems so with a dial up Internet account you could get a busy signal; the dial up modem pool also hangs up if you don't use it for 25 minutes. A permanent user can be on all day and save a great deal on Telstra costs - no timeout.
- You can get a fixed 'IP' address on the Internet to run your own mail server or Web server (usually in conjunction with your own Domain Name).
