The Bendigo Joss House, a Chinese place of worship, was constructed in the 1860s by Chinese migrants who came to Bendigo in search of gold.
Constructed with locally hand made bricks, The Bendigo Joss House was painted red, the Chinese colour denoting strength and vitality, and was used to worship the god Guan-Di.
The Bendigo Joss House is one of the few remaining buildings of its type in Australia.
