Poet
of the Month Maria Takolander Maria
Takolander's poems have appeared in Australian and international
journals and newspapers, and have been anthologised in The
Best Australian Poems 2005 (Black Inc.) and Best Australian
Poetry 2006 (UQP). In 2005 she was shortlisted for the inaugural
ABR Poetry Prize, and that year she was the Emerging Writer
at the Mildura Writers' Weekend. Her work has also been broadcast
on ABC TV. She is the author of a chapbook of poems, Narcissism
(Whitmore Press, 2005). In addition to writing poetry, she writes
fiction and essays, and is a Lecturer in Literary Studies at Deakin
