| The Collection provides an historical overview of urban and labour issues. For example, it ranges from a comprehensive set of political pamphlets from the 1930s to documents on urban issues in the 1980s. A Crow Collection Association has been fo

Crow Collection Projects
The Crow Collection Association seeks funds from various Philanthropic
Foundations for community development projects which can use the Collection
documents to help plan for the 21st century.
For example, funds from the Lance Reichstein Charitable Foundation enabled the
Association to involve a number of organisations in a project on planning for
children's services in the Western Region.
The Association is seeking sponsors for projects on:
- Linking the community movement and the trade movement
- Planning leisure activities for young people
- Local government and practical issues arising from thinking globally and
acting locally
- Personal histories of women who have contributed to social change.
Currently the Crow Collection Association is preparing a submission to the Federal Government's Review of Higher Education (the West Review).
The main themes of the submission are:-
- Improving the flexibility and responsiveness of higher educational providers (especially in regard to under-represented groups)
- The social, cultural and community functions of Australian higher education (especially in regard to University Libraries)
- Some ways for the higher education system to contribute to Australia's society, culture and economy (giving special consideration to linking the university to the region in which it is located).
The other main Crow Collection project is the preparation of a publication of the papers which were presented at the 1996 Ideas Exchange Day on 'What Sort Of Society Do We Want Australia To Be?'.
The Association is preparing resource material for the Expo On Housing which is being organised by a group brought together by the Housing Officer for the Moreland City Council. The Expo will be held in the Brunswick Town Hall on June 13-15th.

Some Quotes
The Crow Collection is part of the life's work of a man who dedicated his gifts to the service of humanity. I am therefore very glad the Victoria University of Technology will house the Crow Collection.
- Prof. Manning Clark, 1990
You helped me gain a much better understanding of the many problems encountered when examining history. The primary sources you gave me and especially your own thoughts as a contrast to secondary and media representation became a focus of my essay. I
was very grateful for your assistance. I for one owe a lot to
the Crow Collection.
- A VCE student in 1993
Ecoso (the Crow Collection Association's newsletter) provides a lot of hard-to-get information relevant to anyone interested in the sustainable/ecology movements and tries to foster links between it and the trade unions. The information is varied and
substantive ... a valiant effort to link history of urban reform, local government and the current movements for a sustainable, ecological society.
- Prof. Henry Mayer, 1990
