The Healesville Gateway Festival was created in 1992 with the intention to celebrate and display the skills and talents of the Healesville community in co-operation with local artists and craft people, encouraging a wider audience for their skills and a potential market for their talents. It is designed to encourage the many and varied community groups to publicise their activities, forming new liaisons and creating new opportunities to access a wider community network through which to raise funds and encourage volunteer support.  It supports the business and tourism interests of the Healesville district in their promotion of the Region, providing active custom for their undertakings within a fun Festival setting and the promotion of the performing and visual arts.
