How to administer drops.

blue bullet Store drops in the refrigerator both for preservation and to know when the drops actually enter the eye when instilled.
blue bullet Wash your hands with soap and water to be sure they are clean.
blue bullet Do not touch the lid skin with the tip of the bottle.
blue bullet Gently shake the eye drops. Do not cause them to froth!
blue bullet Unscrew the cap from your bottle of drops.
blue bullet Use your finger to gently pull down the lower eyelid of your affected eye.
blue bullet Gently squeeze the bottle, so that only one drop goes into your eye. Now let go of the lower eyelid. Do not rub your eye or blink.
blue bullet With your eye closed, put your index finger against the inside corner of your eye and press against your nose for at least two minutes. The aim is to stop your drop from draining through the tear duct to your nose and throat. (If it did, it could be absorbed into other parts of your body). This technique keeps it where it can do the most good. If you need more specific instructions on doing this, ask your doctor.
blue bullet Screw the cap back on the bottle.
blue bullet If you do not understand the use or side-effects of your drops, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.
blue bullet Do not use drops supplied to other people.
blue bullet Throw out any unused drops after 30 days.
