Telstra's Disability Equipment Program

Of particular interest to people with glaucoma who live in Australia will be the Big Button phone. It is available to eligible Telstra customers at no additional cost to a standard rental phone. A brief description of its features follow directly below.

Telstra's Big Button multi-purpose phone has been designed for people who have difficulty reading or dialling the numbers on their phone, holding the handset, hearing or making themselves heard on the phone. The buttons are double the size of those on a standard phone, the hands free function can be activated and programmed numbers dialled with the single push of a button, it has adjustable voice aid and volume control to amplify outgoing and incoming speech, an in-built hearing aid coupler; a flashing light for incoming calls; and an additional port for a single, external switch to be added for people who have difficulty dialling on the phone.
