Education Department correspondence shows that on 5/7/1877 a submission was made to the Department for a School to be opened in the area. This letter was endorsed by Jas Smith, James Phillips, Joseph Sarjeant, Allan Nixon, Charles Lewis, John Barrie, Norm McDonald, John Curnew, Lanst Larsen, Magnus McDell?, James Barrie, Edmund Leahy, James McKay and John Nixon (chairman). The suggested site was on James Bakers selection in Congupna Town. Approval for a School was given by the Department on 17/6/1878, the building to be delayed until funds became available.
On 7/4/1879 another submission was sent, signed by James Barrie, Magnus Kievell?, Jas Smith, Norman McDonald, Peter Mariusson? and Laust Larsen. After this submission the School was opened.
In August 1881 a request for a larger School to hold 45 students was sent.
April 4 1901 was the date on a letter to the Department requesting the appointment of a Sewing Mistress as the average attendance was greater than 30.
         (Extract  from "Vision and Realisation")
The school opened in a wooden portable on a 5 acre reserve approximately 10 miles N/E of Shepparton. HT Charles Wesley Frost opened the school on 22nd July 1879. In 1882 a new school was built, the old building being converted into a teachers residence. In 1902 and 1903 both school and residence were badly damaged by storm. Pupils numbered 46 in 1902. The school officially closed in 1918.
