School History (taken from "Vision and Realisation")

This Rural School near Numurkah opened on 4th October 1884 with Emma J Barberis as first HT.
Early enrolments were high, 46 in 1888, 54 in 1890 and there was still an average attendance of 34 in 1902,but by 1910 attendances were down, and the school worked part-time with 2921 Youanmite North and later 2578 Yarroweyah South. The building from 1725 Barmah was moved to Drumanure in May 1950 at a cost of £ 911, but the school was unstaffed in June 1954 and finally closed in February 1955.
