School History (taken from "Vision and Realisation")

The School also known as Yabba North situated N of Dookie opened on 22nd of August 1882 with George Y Robinson as HT, until he died in 1887. The "general depopulation of the whole district" reported by the Correspondent of the Board of Advice, was due to the unsuitability of the area for intensive agriculture and gave the school periods of fluxuating attendances. Yabba Yabba closed in September 1906 reopening in February 1909 with Emma Robinson as HT. Thomas Panter became first Correspondent for the Committee in 1911, and attendances and enrolments improved so that the Committee asked for enlargement of the school buildimg in 1915, the work being effected in 1921. Attendance again deteriorated and the school closed in 1929, reopening as a subsidised school and becoming full time again in 1932 with the name Yabba North. Closed again in 1943, reopened for a period as a part-time school, S S 2483 finally closed in June 1951 when pupils were conveyed to Dookie.
