School History

     (Extract  from "Vision and Realisation")
S S 2609 Yabba Yabba South, later known as Yabba South, opened on 17th of September 1884 to serve children of selectors in the South part of the Parish of Yabba Yabba. The building from S S 1865 Dookie North, a portable with quarters, was brought to the 2 acre site; The opening of the Catholic School at Dookie had caused attendances to drop at that school. S S 2609 had the usual troubles of schools in sparsely settled areas- enrolments struggled to reach the Departments minimum, leading to closures of varying duration in 1895-96, 1913-23 and finally in July 1941 when the school building was moved to Yarrawonga.
