Hello from Hong Kong!

Thank you for producing this wonderful homepage with all the fabulous
pictures and links. I am very impressed! Keep going! How are the
activities in SGI-A going by the way? I myself had a great time
visiting Sydney and the cultural centre in Hornsby in March 1996. I
hope to return again.

Take care.

It's is always so encouraging to find new websites pertaining to SGI
activities around the world. Thank you.

I just wanted to advise of a change that should go under Culture Centers
and Publications.

SGI-USA
The Seikyo Times is now called "Living Buddhism"

Also there are many community centers and culture centers throughout the
U.S. For example Chicago has had a Culture Center for over 5 years now.

I'm not sure how often you get to update this information and you may
already know all this information in which case I do apologize.

Thanks again for all your efforts.

Thankyou for the first web page I've read about SGIA.

What a pleasure!!

I think the graphics of our centres can be improved. Maybe we can start
up an offical web page which SGIA has yet to get off the ground to date.

Sincerely

GREETINGS FROM AN SGI Los Angeles member!!!

This is a great website! I'm going to share it with my members now. We tried
to access it after our district meeting the other day, but it failed to
transmit. I decided to try again today, and it popped up!

You've done a beautiful job. Hopefully someone here will start a local
website soon. I'm sure you know a lot of addresses. If you'd like to know
any websites in US, just let me know. I have a small list, all with links.

I am a Women's Division District Leader in Diamond District. Our current
campaign is a Global Family Festival performed and created by our Youth
Division on March 14 & 15, commemorating March 16, 1958. It also commemorates
the 5th anniversary of our receiving of Sensei's poem "The Sun of Jiyu over a
New Land" which he gave to us following riots in our city. The performance
will be a Multi-Media production with acting, dancing, moving video backdrops,
slides, live & taped music. We have five Regions in our greater Los Angeles
SGI, and each will do one act, all tied together. We're going "all out" to
really support this activity as a great impetus toward the future of SGI-USA,
the headquarters of which is in our city.

This weekend our Region (Region 1) had a great "retreat" at an old time
Hollywood era hotel. We had the whole hotel, and there were about 250 of us
(I think), all district leaders and "up" were invited. We discussed current
affairs in L.A. SGI, How to encourage youth, How to deal with the Temple
issue, Proper Gongyo, and many many other things. It was very refreshing. We
saw many old friends from even 20 years ago, and in the evening we had a DJ in
the small "ballroom" and everyone rocked out!! Classy latin dancers with
small Japanese pioneer members with shy young men's division with their
exuberant compadres with crazy hiphoppers and so on. It was very much fun till
1:30 AM. We met again at 9 AM for Q& A and Open Mic. We also discussed the
land use hearing for Soka University which will take place on February 5th in
San Diego. The California State Coastal Commission must give final approval
and we have a lot of oppositional Sansho Shima. We have been battling this
for a longtime. Please send Daimoku over to San Diego on that day! Would it
be your Feb 4th??? Supporters of Soka will attend the hearing to speak, in
order to show the support of the community. I'm sure we will win in the end.
This is a discussion of the original site in Los Angeles County, which has
been greatly opposed by various factions. It is now being used as a graduate
school and is currently affiliated with Harvard University in Boston. It's a
most interesting story, however, because of this opposition, another city
actually requested Soka University of America full undergraduate school to be
built there (an hour and a half away drive-time) because they recognized the
great value to their community. Grading is now being done and we're very
excited. In the meantime, we need Daimoku for Feb 5.

Our YWD MC called the Hotel Manager to the stage when we were finished, and we
gave him a standing ovation for a wonderful time. He looked very sincerely
appreciative and said that he had never experienced such a pleasant event in
his 14 years at the hotel and insisted that it was really true. I believe he
was definitely touched by the life of our organization, as he observed all of
our activities and had a very seeking mind as to what we were about.

We all hope you're enjoying yourself "Down Under"!!! I visited Sydney in 1987
with my family for a few days on holiday and I found it so charming!!! I hope
to come back someday! My daughter's college roommate is on the US National
Women's Soccer Team and she's hoping to go to the Olympics in Sydney. She's
only 19, but she is fantastic in the sport.

GREETINGS TO ALL OF YOU!!! Encourage us with your mail message and we'll put
it up on our Community Center Bulletin Board FOR EVERYONE TO SEE!! Our
community center is the largest in LA. We have 2 buildings, one of which the
main room holds about 320 persons and the other about half that. We're very
fortunate to have it. It's called the SGI San Fernando Valley Community
Center. Come and see it!!!

THE BEST TO YOU ALL!!

Sincerely, BETH VIRANI

Thank you for your website in English, Mee Choo! Though we have not
many English-speaking members here, I for one enjoy learning from all
those great websites out there. It really does give everyone WORLDWIDE
access to study material for those who may not find groups in foreign
countries who speak their language. So, multilingual SGI sites and www
access IS very important. Like global, eh? Katie =B:)
