Soka Gakkai was founded by educator Tsunesabura Makiguchi in Japan in 1930.
He was 1st president of Soka Gakkai. Josei Toda was the second president of Soka Gakkai.
Daisaku Ikeda is president of the Soka Gakkai International.

Daisaku Ikeda became the third Soka Gakkai president in 1960. During this period Soka
Gakkai expanded in Japan and internationally, and accepted the presidency of international
in 1975. We now called this organisation Soka Gakkai International (SGI). Mr. Ikeda firmly believes in the value of educational and culture international exchange. He has travelled to over 50 countries throughout the world to promote peace, culture and education, to delivered addresses at numerous universities abroad, and to convict that person-to-person dialogue. He was awarded the United Nations Peace Medal in 1983. He also received awards from many others countries and organisation for his contributions. |
